Lake County General Health District (LCGHD), in conjunction with the Cleveland Clinic, Lake County Commissioners’ Office, Lake County Emergency Management Agency, Lake County Fire Chiefs’ Association, Lake Health, Lake County Mayors/City Managers, Laketran, and University Hospitals will hold a COVID-19 mega-Point of Dispensing (POD) to provide 3,000 COVID-19 vaccinations on Wednesday, April 14 at Lakeland Community College from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
“Currently nearly 38% of Lake County residents have received at least one vaccination. The key to our early success has been the communication between all our community partners,” stated Ron H. Graham, Health Commissioner. “We have proven we can vaccinate large numbers of residents efficiently and safely. The key to ending this pandemic is more residents receiving their vaccinations. Until a significant percentage of the population is vaccinated, social distancing and mask usage will still be necessary to prevent the spread COVID-19”. As of Sunday, April 4, Lake County was ranked 4th in the state for percent of residents with first doses of vaccine completed.
The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will be administered at this clinic for those 18 years of age and older. Those ages 16-17 should not be registered for this clinic, as they are not able to receive the Moderna vaccine. Parents of those ages 16 and 17 who may have already scheduled for this clinic will be contacted by LCGHD to re-schedule their appointments to a time when the Pfizer vaccine is available.
