ARCHIVED PRESS RELEASE: Lake County to Hold First COVID-19 Vaccine Mega-POD

Lake County General Health District (LCGHD), in conjunction with the Cleveland Clinic, Lake County Commissioner’s Office,  Lake County Emergency Management Agency, Lake County Fire Chiefs’ Association, Lake Health, Lake County Mayors/City Managers, and University Hospitals will hold a COVID-19 mega-Point of Dispensing (POD) to provide 5,000 COVID-19 vaccinations on March 31, 2021 at Mentor High School from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

While all appointments for the Mentor High School POD clinic are currently filled, an additional mega-POD is planned for Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Lakeland Community College. There are currently 3,000 appointments open for that POD. Health Commissioner Ron Graham commented, “Our main priority is to safely vaccinate as many individuals in Lake County who want it, so we can get back to our families, our school, and to work.” County Commissioner John Hamercheck stated, “We are pleased to see so many county agencies coming together to serve the needs of the Lake County community.” Commissioner John Plecnik said, “As your newest commissioner, I am excited to support and encourage the effort to provide free vaccinations to all who request them and get our families in Lake County back to work safely!”

Future clinics at Lakeland are also in the process of being scheduled. New appointments will open every Monday.
